Welcoming Kalen as NJC's summer law clerk

NJC is pleased to introduce the newest member of our team. Kalen Best recently joined our staff as our summertime Minnesota Justice Foundation (MJF) Law Clerk.

Kalen received a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2019; she is currently enrolled at the University of St. Thomas School of Law and will be beginning her final year in August. During her time in law school, Kalen has been active with the Minnesota Justice Foundation-UST Chapter and with the Women's Law Student Association, of which she is currently President. Prior to joining the NJC team, Kalen worked for the Ramsey County Public Defender's Office as a law clerk. She enjoys volunteering with Restorative Justice Community Action and is passionate about restorative justice, criminal reform, and treatment courts.

Outside of work and school, she enjoys spending time with her cat and with her husband, traveling, and reading true crime novels. She also loves trying new foods, being around animals, and spending time outdoors.
